September Counterfeit Kit Challenge

Hello Scrappy Friends!

I am super excited to finally be able to announce that I have partnered up with the Counterfeit Kit Challenge blog for the month of September! I have the honor of being a guest designer but I also got to design a Secret Not Secret Kit Club exclusively curated kit just for their challenge this month! Let me start off by sharing the kit that I designed for their challenge this month. This is the kit that everyone will use as inspiration to create their own kits to work from throughout the month. They asked for a kit that wasn’t too bright in colors and would work for both masculine and feminine layouts. I wanted to give it a little bit of a travel vibe since we are moving out of the summer months and into fall as well as choosing a bit more masculine color palette.

In this kit, I decided to include lots of elements from Vicki Boutin as well as from Cocoa Vanilla’s Boys Rule.

The next task was to design a kit of my own to use throughout the month that was inspired by this one. I loved the more masculine color palette as well as the use of kraft and elements of black and white. I kept to basically the same formula of patterned paper, stickers, and die cut ephemera when I designed by own stash kit.

I decided in my own kit to go with a slightly more camping related theme and included several elements from Simple Stories Happy Trails collection. I happened to have the same kraft and white tags as well as the same stencil in my personal stash so I included those in this kit as well. The one major difference was that I included more stamp sets as well as less embellishments. I wanted to try my hand at creating some of my own embellishments to coordinate with this kit so instead of including lots of embellishments, I decided to include things like blank tags, cork speciality paper, and lots of fun stamp sets. I can’t wait to share more about what i have in store for this kit throughout the month1 I even threw in a 6x8 Vicki Boutin paper pad that was partially used in case I wanted to add some extra pops of color like in the original kit. I also made sure to keep some ledger and text papers in both kits as these are two of my favorite types of patterned paper to create with and I find them super versatile.
